My Story

As the founder (Wouter, born in 1996), I started the company after struggling with skin issues for as long as I can remember. Since my childhood, I have suffered from eczema on the inside of my elbows and knees, and also on my neck. The itching was so unbearable that I sometimes scratched so hard that my skin bled, which only made the situation worse.

Over the years, I tried every cream I could find, both prescribed by a doctor and from the regular drugstore. But most of them didn't work at all, or only masked the symptoms. Once they were finished, the eczema came back.

I could not accept that I would have to live with eczema forever, or that I would have to keep using prescribed steroid creams permanently.

I was determined to find the cause of my skin problems, and after years of extensive research, I came to the following conclusion.

A healthy skin starts from within. I began to pay attention to my nutrition, sleep, and exercise. I optimized my gut health and the detoxification system of my body. This alone made a huge difference.

But the external factor is also important. I started to pay attention to the ingredients of the cosmetic products I was using, and I was shocked.

Healing the skin from the outside

It is well known that the skin can absorb many of the substances you apply to it, allowing them to enter the cells and eventually end up in the bloodstream.

How can it be acceptable that many products consist of a long list of synthetic chemicals with potentially negative health effects and for which little long-term research has been conducted?

The more I researched, the more I became convinced that many cosmetics available today do more harm than good.

I discovered that two things are needed to optimize the health of your skin from the outside. (1) Remove toxic and irritating ingredients, and (2) hydrate + nourish the skin with high-quality, clean products.

Since the skin absorbs, it makes no sense to cover it with something you wouldn’t eat. But I couldn’t find anything in stores that I would dare to eat.

So I decided to make my own skin creams from 100% natural ingredients: nutrient-rich, edible, fresh, safe, easily absorbed, and gentle on the skin.

Even when I did almost everything right, the eczema still sometimes returned. But with my homemade cream, I could quickly soothe and heal my skin, much better than with any other product I had ever tried (see the before & after photo).

Then I realized that I could help other people do the same.

If you find something that works for a problem that many people face, why would you keep it to yourself?

When I learned how to make cosmetic products and delved deeper into this world, I realized that what applies to skin creams now applies to almost all cosmetic products.

Then I decided to establish Primal Glow Cosmetics.
