What does the unscented soap smell like?

We offer unscented soap for people who truly want the purest possible product and have very sensitive skin.

However, since no fragrance has been added, the soap may smell like nothing, or like the raw ingredients, namely tallow and castor oil.

Some customers have indicated that they do not like the smell, while others have no issue with it.

Keep this in mind when purchasing the soap!

What is lye and is it still in the soap?

Lyew is another word for a chemical substance called sodium hydroxide.

This chemical substance is found in the ash of burned hardwood that was originally used to make the first pieces of soap in history.

However, today we use a purified lye to produce better quality soap.

Technically, this is not a completely natural ingredient. However, this chemical is essential for making soap and cannot be omitted.

It is responsible for initiating the saponification process, the chemical reaction that converts fats into soap.

During the curing of the soap blocks, the lye disappears from the soap as it is consumed by this saponification process.

Therefore, the final product you purchase contains no lye.

Ingredients

  • Tallow

    100% grass-fed, rich in fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K, and contains a high percentage of stable saturated fats. Excellent moisturizing properties.

  • Castor Oil

    Cold-pressed and organic. By adding just a little bit of this oil to the recipe, the soap will lather much more.

  • Loog

    Sodium hydroxide (lye) was originally obtained from wood ash, but is now sold in purified form and is essential for making soap. However, the soap no longer contains lye once it has hardened.
