The Story of Primal Glow Cosmetics

As the founder (Wouter, born in 1996), I started the company after struggling with skin problems for as long as I can remember. Since childhood, I have suffered from eczema on the inside of my elbows and knees, and also on my neck. The itching was so unbearable that sometimes I would scratch so hard that my skin would bleed, which only made the situation worse.

Over the years, I tried every cream I could find, both prescribed by a doctor and from regular drugstores. But most of them didn't work at all, or only masked the symptoms. As soon as they ran out, the eczema would return.

I couldn't accept that I would have to live with eczema forever, or that I would permanently have to continue using prescribed steroid creams.

I was determined to find the cause of my skin problems, and after years of extensive research, I came to the following conclusion.

Healthy skin starts from within. I began to pay attention to my diet, sleep, and exercise. I optimized my gut health and my body's detoxification system. This alone made a huge difference.

However, the external factor is also important. I started paying attention to the ingredients of the cosmetic products I was using, and I was shocked.

Healing the skin from the outside

It's common knowledge that the skin can absorb many of the substances you apply to it, which can then enter cells or the bloodstream.

How can it then be acceptable that many products consist of a laundry list of synthetic chemicals with potentially negative health consequences and/or for which little long-term research has been done?

The more I researched it, the more I became convinced that many cosmetics on the market today are, at best, neutral, but for many, they can also do more harm than good.

I discovered that two things are needed to truly optimize your skin's health from the outside.

  1. Remove toxic and irritating ingredients
  2. Hydrate + nourish the skin with high-quality, pure products.

Because the skin absorbs, it almost seems logical that you wouldn't put something on it that you couldn't also safely eat. But I couldn't find products like that in stores.

Then I decided to make my own skin creams from 100% natural ingredients: rich in nutrients, edible, fresh, safe, easily absorbed, and gentle on the skin.

Even if I did almost everything right, the eczema sometimes still returned. But with my homemade cream, I could quickly soothe my skin and support the healing process, much better than with any other product I had ever tried.

Then I realised I could help other people do the same.

If you find something that works for a problem many people face, why keep it to yourself?

As I learned how to make cosmetic products and delved deeper into this world, I realized that what applies to skin creams today applies to almost all cosmetic products.

Full of synthetic chemicals in cheap plastic packaging.

It doesn't have to be this way; it can be better.

That's when I decided to found Primal Glow Cosmetics.
